Knowledgebase: Can I Use an External CDN with NTCloud Hosting?

Yes! NTCloud fully supports external CDN services—meaning you’re free to use any CDN provider of your choice.

This guide walks you through how to integrate an external CDN with your domain on NTCloud hosting.

✅ Step-by-Step Guide (Using Cloudflare as an Example)

Cloudflare is our recommended option due to its performance, DDoS protection, free SSL, and ease of use. Here's how to set it up:

1️⃣ Use NTCloud Nameservers Initially

Before setting up your CDN:

  • Point your domain to NTCloud nameservers first (you'll see these when adding a domain inside your NTCloud dashboard).

  • This ensures your DNS resolves properly and all the necessary records are generated.

Let the DNS fully propagate—usually takes a few minutes up to a few hours depending on your registrar.

2️⃣ Add Your Domain to Cloudflare

Once your domain is resolving correctly on NTCloud:

  • Head to Cloudflare

  • Create a free account (or log in)

  • Add your domain name

Cloudflare will automatically scan and import all DNS records—including your A records, TXT records, and anything else tied to your NTCloud setup.

No manual record entry is needed.

3️⃣ Change Nameservers at Your Registrar

After Cloudflare finishes importing:

  • Cloudflare will give you two new nameservers

  • Go to your domain registrar (e.g., Namecheap, GoDaddy, etc.)

  • Replace the current NTCloud nameservers with the Cloudflare-provided nameservers

This will route your traffic through Cloudflare’s CDN while maintaining your NTCloud hosting and DNS configuration.

🛑 Important Note on Support

We are not responsible for the management, configuration, or troubleshooting of external CDN services like Cloudflare.
Once you point your nameservers away from NTCloud to an external CDN:

  • You are managing DNS externally

  • Any issues or questions must be directed to that CDN’s support team (e.g. Cloudflare support)

Our team can only assist with issues on the NTCloud side of your setup.

💡 Other Things to Keep in Mind

  • Leave all DNS records as-is in Cloudflare unless you know exactly what you're changing. The imported records work out of the box.

  • CDN-related settings like SSL, caching, and firewall rules can now be managed directly inside your Cloudflare dashboard.

  • Wait for propagation: After changing nameservers, allow up to 24 hours for full global propagation—though it’s usually much faster.

🔒 Still Want to Use Another CDN?

You can! Services like BunnyCDN, KeyCDN, or even enterprise options like Fastly will work just as well. You’ll follow a similar process:

  • Add your domain to the CDN provider

  • Import or replicate DNS records

  • Update nameservers (if applicable)

Just make sure your DNS and record structure remains intact.
