Knowledgebase: How to Use the WordPress Health Check Plugin for Troubleshooting

The WordPress Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin is one of the most effective tools available for diagnosing common problems with your site—such as plugin or theme conflicts—without affecting your live visitors.

This guide walks you through how to use the plugin effectively on your PBN LTD-hosted WordPress website.

🔧 What the Plugin Does

The Health Check plugin allows you to:

  • View the overall technical health of your site

  • Run a “Troubleshooting Mode” that simulates a clean WordPress install just for you (admins only)

  • Detect plugin conflicts, theme issues, and server configuration problems

  • Test changes without breaking your live site for visitors

✅ Step 1: Install the Plugin

  1. Log in to your WordPress dashboard (via One Click Login in your PBN LTD dashboard).

  2. Go to Plugins > Add New.

  3. Search for Health Check & Troubleshooting.

  4. Click Install Now, then Activate.

⚙️ Step 2: Use Site Health Overview

After installation:

  1. Go to Tools > Site Health.

  2. Review the Status and Info tabs.

  • The Status tab shows critical issues and recommended improvements.

  • The Info tab gives detailed data about your server, plugins, themes, and more—useful if you're submitting a support ticket.

🧪 Step 3: Enter Troubleshooting Mode

This is where the plugin really shines.

  1. In Tools > Site Health, click the Troubleshooting tab.

  2. Click Enable Troubleshooting Mode.

What happens:

  • All plugins are deactivated—but only for your user session.

  • The site looks and functions as a fresh WordPress install.

  • Your visitors continue to see your site as normal.

🔍 Step 4: Find the Conflict

Now, re-enable components one by one to locate the issue:

  1. Re-enable your active theme and check if the issue appears.

  2. Then, re-enable plugins one at a time, refreshing the site after each.

  3. Once the issue reappears—you’ve found the conflict!

You can now disable the problem plugin or switch themes as needed.

🔁 Step 5: Exit Troubleshooting Mode

Once done:

  • Click Disable Troubleshooting Mode at the top admin bar.

  • Your admin session will return to normal, with your original plugins and theme active.

🛠️ Pro Tips

  • Create a backup first: Always create a manual backup from the PBN LTD dashboard before major troubleshooting.

  • Combine with File Manager: If you can’t access wp-admin due to an error, use File Manager to rename plugin folders and disable them manually. You can find how to do this here.

  • Use with SSO caution: If using One Click Login, avoid disabling the PBN Login Helper plugin—this will disable the autologin feature.

🙋 Still Stuck?

If you’ve tried these steps and still can’t locate the problem, open a support ticket and include:

  • What issue you’re trying to fix

  • Which plugins/themes were active

  • What the Health Check plugin revealed

The more detail you provide, the faster we can help.
